International Stand Up Comedy Show

Our November headliner is the hilarious John Meagher, a Northern Irish comedian and writer. PLUS SPECIAL GUEST MC – Qbus and Weird Uncle favourite Matthew McAloone (NI) is going to guest MC this show! He is excited to be back on the QBus stage and I know we are all excited to see him.
Meagher is well known for his timely writing and bold performances and recognised widely as one of Ireland’s top new comedians and important working-class voice.
His comedy explores his life growing up on a housing estate during the Troubles, and how these experiences colour his life today. He’s survived a heart attack (the basis of his show “Calm” which has been nominated for “Best Standup Performance” at the Buxton Fringe in 2023), extreme violence (though to clarify that was a professional Martial Artist; his job before comedy, and fought in the World Karate Championships for Team Ireland) and the culture clash of being Irish in England and married to someone from the Middle-East. John drags the harder subjects out into the light and brings a warmth and joy that sets his audiences at ease.
